About Dr. Brownlow
Dr. Robert L. Brownlow Jr. is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmologists and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He has received numerous honors and citations, and has written many articles and abstracts pertaining to ophthalmology. Dr. Brownlow was honored by his peers with his acceptance into Best Doctors in America® from 2009 through 2013. Dr. Brownlow earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry/business at High Point College, High Point, North Carolina. He received his doctor of medicine degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. Following medical school, Dr. Brownlow completed an internship in the Department of General Surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. For three years, he served his residency in the hospital's Department of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Brownlow was fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal surgery at Cornell University Medical Center in New York. His wealth of experience includes private practice in ophthalmology in Williamsburg, Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia; and Wilmington, North Carolina.
About Dr. Charkoudian
Dr. Leon Charkoudian is board-certified in ophthalmology, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He received his bachelor of science degree at Cornell University as a double major in biology and chemistry. His medical school training was at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and his ophthalmology residency training was at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Charkoudian was fellowship-trained in vitreoretinal surgery at the Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Georgia. He is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and South Carolina. Outside of medicine, Dr. Charkoudian loves to play guitar and spend time with his wife, Nicole, and their three children.
